Most contents policies pay to replace your things at today's prices, so the number that matters is the **replacement value**: what it would cost to buy the same or a similar item new today. It's often different from what you paid.

## Steps

1. Open an item (or start a new one) and fill in the **name**, plus the **brand** and **model** if you know them.
2. Click **Value**.
3. Claimfrog searches real retailer listings for the same or a very similar product and fills in the **Replacement Value**.
4. Check the number and adjust it if you know better.

## Where the number comes from

Each value shows its source, so you and your adjuster know how it was set:

- **Entered by you**
- **AI estimate from photo** (set when an item was detected from a photo)
- **AI estimate**
- **Retailer listing**, with the date it was checked

Claimfrog only links to real listings it found. It never makes up a product link.

## Tips

- Brand and model make the biggest difference. "Samsung 65-inch QN90C" gets a far better estimate than "TV".
- Re-check values on your most valuable items once a year; prices change.

## Troubleshooting

- **"Could not estimate a value."** Add the brand and model, or enter the value yourself.
