Standard home and renters policies usually exclude flood and earthquake. The **Hazards & coverage gaps** card on your Claimfrog dashboard checks official government maps for your address and turns what it finds into questions for your insurance agent.

## Where it works

- **United States:** your FEMA flood zone at your exact address (National Flood Hazard Layer), plus elevated hazards for your area from the FEMA National Risk Index: hurricane, wildfire, earthquake, tornado, hail, river and coastal flooding and more.
- **Canada:** Natural Resources Canada's seismic risk model and flood map inventory, plus provincial flood maps for Alberta and Québec.

## Steps

1. Make sure your property has a full street address in **Settings › Property Details**.
2. Open the **Dashboard**. The card checks the maps automatically.
3. Read the findings. Click **View the official FEMA map** (or **Open the flood map**) to see the source.
4. Under **Questions to ask your agent**, click **Email my agent** to send them the findings and questions in one go. The button appears once your agent's email is saved in **Settings › Insurance Details**.
5. Click **Check again** after you change the address.

## Good to know

- Area ratings are broad. "No elevated hazards" does not mean there's no risk at your address. Nearly a third of U.S. flood insurance claims come from outside high-risk zones.
- Flood maps can be out of date. The card shows when the map took effect.
- This is information from public sources, not an insurance or engineering assessment.

## Troubleshooting

- **"We couldn't pinpoint this street address."** Check the address in Settings and pick the suggested match.
- **"The map service didn't respond."** Government map services are sometimes slow. Try again in a few minutes.
