# Manage rooms and categories

Every item in Claimfrog belongs to a **room** (where it is) and a **category** (what it is). Rooms help you and your adjuster picture a loss room by room. Categories decide how values depreciate in [ACV estimates](https://www.claimfrog.com/help/replacement-value-vs-actual-cash-value).

## Change your room or category list

1. Open **Items** and click **More**.
2. Choose **Manage Rooms** or **Manage Categories**.
3. Hide the options you don't use so they don't clutter the pickers.
4. On **Premium** or **Business**, type a name under **Add a custom value** and add your own room or category (for example "Boat house" or "Camera gear").

## Move items to another room

To move many items at once, select them and use **Edit** in the selection bar. See [Edit or delete many items at once](https://www.claimfrog.com/help/edit-or-delete-many-items).

## Good to know

- The rooms you picked during setup are your property's starting list. Each property has its own list.
- Custom categories use a standard 10-year life in ACV estimates. If an item fits one of the built-in categories, using it gives a more accurate estimate.
